Heritage
150 years
A gardening institution.
Burpee is the 150-year-old name in seeds and plants.
A gardening review: the seed catalog, live plants, and the legacy that makes Burpee the default for gardeners.
Overall verdict
A gardening institution — reliable seeds and plants with real heritage.
Burpee has been selling seeds since 1876, and that experience shows — reliable germination, a deep catalog, and helpful growing guidance.
The seed catalog is deep and reliable, with excellent germination rates and a huge variety of vegetables, flowers, and herbs.
Live plants arrive healthy and well-packed, and the growing guides make it easy for beginners to succeed.
The trade-off is that some varieties are also available cheaper elsewhere — you’re paying partly for the name and reliability.
